Bernadette Robinson is here to provide an evening full of great songs in this Cabaret performance that will leave you delighted.
Her performances in Songs for Nobodies at London's Ambassadors Theatre earned the show an Oliver Awards nomination and announced Bernadette as a West End star.
Alone on stage, Bernadette presented the 5 “nobodies” of the title and 5 iconic singers of the 20th century that had already enchanted and thrilled Australian audiences: Judy Garland, Patsy Cline, Edith Piaf, Billie Holiday and Maria Callas.
London’s broadsheet papers raved: The Times called her “A jaw-dropping talent”; The Daily Telegraph, commented of her portrayal of Callas singing Vissi D’arté from Puccini’s Tosca, “It’s so sublime, it’s like a shot of morphine; and for a blissful few minutes, all the cares of the world are gone.”
Now, following 2020 performances at Arts Centre Melbourne and Sydney Opera House, Winding Road Productions presents Bernadette in her concert Songs of Bernadette, which she premiered in London in 2019.
In this concoction of musical delights Bernadette pays tribute to those same legendary performers, and others, presents songs by contemporary songwriters, and introduces some surprise guests (think Barbra Streisand, Eartha Kitt, Shirley Bassey and Julie Andrews). This will be a concert to savor.
