ANPA - PLAYING FOR PLEASURE

Sunday 30 May 2021, 2.00pm. Enjoy wonderful music on a magnificent Steinway piano! Each year, on a Sunday afternoon, local music enthusiasts come together to perform on the Eastbank stage. Playing for Pleasure gives local pianists the opportunity to play great classical works, on the Steinway piano. Artists include students, teachers, professional academics and anyone who plays piano, with a minimum standard of AMEB 5th grade. It provides the municipality with wonderful live music, all for the cost of a gold coin donation. The concerts came to life when Riverlinks and Greater Shepparton City Council purchased the magnificent grand piano. Playing for Pleasure was created to involve the local community and create casual concerts for Shepparton audiences and artists to gain confidence and perfect their talent. Entry is by gold coin donation. Bookings required.

After being rejected by the shearers and their dogs, Shaun and Pete set up their own Shearing Salon in town and before long word is out and they are inundated with woolly clients and maybe a Ringer or two! This hilarious show, imaginatively told by four perfomers playing shearers, dogs and sheep explores the challenges and rewards of being an individual and will be a lasting tribute to honouring your own spirit and strength, whilst working with the flock. SHORT BLACK OPERA FOR KIDS

Friday 23 April 2021, 12.00pm. Rumbalara Football Netball Club and Short Black Opera are united in their commitment to support Indigenous children to learn, maintain and share their culture, the longest continuous culture on earth. Short Black Opera for Kids is a five day intensive program designed for Indigenous children in grades 4 - 6 from all schools in the Greater Shepparton region. The program provides immersive and culturally authoritative training in music, stage craft and song writing for students, and serves as the entry level training opportunity for acceptance into Australia's peak Indigenous led choral organisation, Dhungala Children's Choir. Short Black Opera Company is a not-for-profit company based in Melbourne, dedicated to providing pathways for Indigenous singers into the world of Classical vocal music and opera. The Short Black Opera for Kids and Dhungala Choral Connection programs are designed to empower Aboriginal children by helping them to create their own songs using traditional language and contemporary experience. The program will run from Monday 19 April - Friday 23 April 2021. The public performance on Friday 23 April at 12.00pm is a showcase and celebration of this week long program. The program is supported by the John T Reid Charitable Trusts.

The Traveling Wilburys was a supergroup. Any band in which Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne are the ‘unknowns’ would have to be very special. George Harrison, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison are giants of popular music who completed this magical lineup. They are adored by all generations of music lovers. Now their songs have been re-imagined for Australian concert audiences. Music director Sam See has assembled a knockout band featuring James Black, Lindsay Field , Glyn Mason, Angus Burchall and Paul Cartwright. Together they create an unforgettable experience featuring sensational vocals, knockout harmonies and gargantuan guitar work as they pay tribute to the Wilburys and its superstar members. Sam See, music director, guitarist and a founding member of Sherbet, has played with and been music director for John Farnham, Brian Cadd and Steve Vizard’s Tonight Live. Glyn Mason has sung and played with Brian Cadd, Chain, Ariel and Copperwine. Lindsay, Sam and Glyn are well known on Melbourne’s acoustic rock scene as Field, See & Mason Angus Burchall drums with John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John. Paul Cartwright on bass has played with Glenn Shorrock, David Bridie and Wendy Matthews.
